    Wesco Abu Dhabi received an additional contract to their long-standing existing agreement with Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company. The new contract is for the full operations and maintenance of two major Sequential Batch Reactor waste water treatment plants in Mafraq, Emirates of Abu Dhabi.     Weir Oil & Gas Deer Park Texas service centre successfully completed an engineering evaluation and mechanical design upgrade on a high energy mainline centrifugal pump installed at the Magellan Pipeline Cushing, Oklahoma tank farm. Magellan Midstream Partners owns and operates a diverse portfolio of energy assets incorporating transportation, storage and distribution of refined petroleum products. The current asset portfolio includes over 80 petroleum products terminals, a 9500 mile petroleum products pipeline system and an 1100 mile ammonia pipeline system. The critical 9500 mile mainline unit was installed to manage output demands for Magellan customers located in the North of America. Howerver, following completion of the installation and start up, the pump unit experienced excessive vibration levels which made the unit inoperable. The original equipment manufacturer was unable to resolve the issue and Weir Oil & Gas were asked to evaluate the situation to provide corrective action planning.     Amco Weir received recognition from a major oil producer in Saudi Arabia for support and the innovative design of a rotor shipping stand. This unique design, created by Ghulam Mustafa, pumpshop superintendent, acts as a carry case ensuring that the expensive rotor assembly can be safely shipped without damage to stationary and rotating components.     Chevron Upstream Europe awarded a contract to Weir Oil & Gas Aberdeen for the provision of pump inspection and maintenance services. Chevron Upstream Europe's operations include the Captain Field that started producing in 1977 and the Alba platform discovered in 1984, brought on stream in 1994. The scope of the contract includes the provision of onshore workshop repairs, comprehensive engineering service for equipment modifications, technical support involving investigations and consultancy services and a full suite of offshore engineering services including optimisation of pump units and service performance. The contract is a key strategic development for Weir Oil & Gas Aberdeen as it was awarded following the success of two highly production critical upgrades for the Captain field where extensive technical expertise and experience was used to meet tight delivery schedules to ensure the units were successfully commissioned and operating.     In June, business units from all three Weir Divisions exhibited at the Global Petroleum show in Calgary, Canada. Weir highlighted their ability to support the upstream pressure pumping and oil sands markets through Weir SPM, Weir Oil & Gas Services, Weir Minerals Floway, Weir Minerals Warman, Weir Minerals Hazleton and Weir valves companies. The display included centrifugal pump and valve solutions, the new Megas Barge application for oil sands, the TWS 2400 frac pump and fluid end repair solutions for the pressure pumping market.     The Weir Manufacturing Excellence Committee (MEC), consisting of a panel of judges from the Weir Group, judged 40 storyboards submitted by Weir Group business units from March - August 2009 using the marketing criteria of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Development and Management.     Weir SPM recently hosted Flow Line Safety Restraint System training sessions for Shell and Cudd Pumping employees in New Zealand. Engineered restraint systems have been mandated on Shell sites worldwide and Weir SPM’s FSR will be utilized in offshore and onshore locations in the New Zealand region.   • 26 Aug 2009 : Dubai Major Oil Refinery contract in Dubai

    Weir Oil & Gas Services Dubai have secured a multi million dollar contract from a 100,000 barrels per day Asian oil refinery, to refurbish rotating equipment. The refurbishment includes the overhaul, repair and manufacture of spare parts and assembly of all critical equipment such as centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, multi-stage steam turbines, process pumps, fans and electric motors.   • 26 Aug 2009 : Baku, Azerbaijan Multiple awards for Weir SOS

    In June, Weir SOS in Baku, Azerbaijan was awarded three American Petroleum Institute (API) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) accreditations in addition to the renewal of two existing API monogram licenses. The three certificates awarded for the first time were API QR/ ISO 9001:2008, API Q1 8th Edition and ISO/ TS 29001:2007. The API monogram licenses renewed were API 5CT and API 7-1. Weir SOS is the first facility in Azerbaijan to achieve the new ISO 9001:2008 accreditation through API without any non-conformances, observations or concerns. Abraham Varghese, HSEQ manager, said “I dedicate this excellent achievement to all Weir SOS employees who worked together to ensure that the quality policy and procedures were implemented and maintained in all departments.” Terry Barber, general manager, commented “We have achieved the accreditations because we have zero non-conformances for products and services provided to customers in addition to good customer feedback.” Click for more...

  • 26 Aug 2009 : Deer Park Rapid repairs for vital pipeline

    The Weir Oil & Gas Services Deer Park team has been awarded a contract from Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, the largest transporter of petroleum products and liquid C02 in the United States. The company is the second largest oil producer in Texas and the largest independent terminal operator in the United States, operating more than 37,000 pipelines in North America. Weir Oil & Gas repaired a critical Peerless 48” vertical turbine booster pump located at the KMP pipeline station in Pasadena, Texas, where product is transported from the KMP tank farm to the main pipeline. Kinder Morgan would have failed delivery obligations to their customers and limit the ability to take vital product deliveries into the terminal if downtime was extended in excess of 4-6 days. Weir Oil & Gas Services provided technical guidance and project management around the clock in order to limit the delivery cycle. The unit repairs were complete in the specified timeline and the unit returned to operation without any lost opportunities for Kinder Morgan. Click for more...
