Success for Weir Oil & Gas Services - Edmonton

Weir Oil & Gas Edmonton have successfully completed the installation and commission of their first gas turbine in North America. The project was awarded by Cord Projects, a division of Colt Worley Parsons, and the turbine will supply power for the city of Grande Prairie, with a population of over 50,000 located northwest of Edmonton Alberta, Canada.  The unit is a 22 MW GE gas turbine, which was purchased in used condition by the client and remained in the original packaging for four years.  The client was unsure if all related parts were available to complete the project which created a challenge for the Edmonton Services field team.  Weir was responsible for complete mechanical installation working alongside a GE engineer for technical reference and support. The success of the project places Weir in a good position for future projects.
